About The Event

Mitsuko Maruyama will be demonstrating in the Ohara School of Ikebana.  She was born in Japan and came to the United States at the age of 15.  In 1971, Maruyama began ikebana studies in the Ohara School with Grandmaster Madame Suiyo Fujimoto. She continues her studies and affiliation with Mme. Fujimoto to this day. Maruyama often assists Mme. Fujimoto in demonstrations and exhibitions.  In 1977, she earned her first teaching degree and has earned successive degrees since then. In May 2019, she received Ohara School’s Sub Grand Master degree.

Currently teaching Ikebana in Fremont, Ca. with more than 40 years, Maruyama has been an active member of several ikebana organizations. Currently, she is President of the Ohara Ikebana School of Northern California Chapter,  and a member of North American Ohara Teachers Association. She is past President of Ikebana International San Francisco Bay Area Chapter and the Ikebana Teachers Federation in Bay Area. She has demonstrated and exhibited ikebana at numerous flower shows including those presented by Ohara Ikebana School of Northern California Chapter, the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, the Cherry Blossom Festival in San Francisco Japan Town, Gumps, Macy’s, and many large exhibits presented by Ikebana International.  We are honored to have Mitsuko Maruyama demonstrate in Sacramento.
