About The Event
Sogetsu Ikebana Classes
Disassembling and Re-assembling Materials
Every Ikebana arrangement is made by selecting materials, cutting
them to fit the concept of your design and to harmonize it with your
container. In this lesson we will look at each branch on hand carefully
first to see the structure and elements it has, how the elements can be
made use of to make a composition, and what should be the most
effective element to disassemble the branch. By disassembling the plant
materials you may notice some entirely different and surprising
characteristics of the material, which then enhances your re-assembled
arrangement
Bring:
Water to drink, a bucket, sturdy garden shears, a cloth for cleaning and a small
bowl for cutting stems. Materials will be provided. Bring your own
container, however some suitable vases will be offered at low cost for
each class.
